Eliminate phobias
Phobias are
very common - as many as 1
in 10 people will be affected by
a phobia at some point in their
life. Whereas fear can be a useful
response in certain situations
in order to keep us away from danger,
phobias are generally defined as 'unnecessary or
excessive anxiety' in
a specific situation or in the
presence of a specific object- that
is, the fear felt by the person
is significantly greater than the
actual threat posed by the object
or situation. Almost anything can
act as a trigger - some of the
most common ones are listed below:
- Animals (eg: spiders, snakes,
frogs, dogs, fish, birds)
- Heights
- Dentists
- Water
- Flying
- Claustrophobia (fear
of enclosed spaces)
- Public
speaking and other social phobias
- Injections

Controlling and eliminating
unwanted habits / behaviours

unwanted habits and behaviours,

biting, bed
wetting,
stammering, Obsessive
Compulsive Disorder (OCD), smoking, and alcohol
/ drug addiction. It can also be
helpful if you suffer from insomnia.

Stop smoking
Going to a Hypnotherapist to get
help to stop
smoking is often a
last resort for many people, and
yet the combination of hypnosis
and NLP techniques is one of the
most effective ways in which to
achieve it.
You may only require 2 or 3 sessions
in order to achieve your goal,
whether you smoke 10 cigarettes
a day or 60. This is different
to many of the '2 hour guarantee
stop smoking' programmes available,
as I spend the first session understanding
your personal relationship to cigarettes
and finding the best way in which
I think I can help you. The following
session, a week later, is when
the treatment process begins, which
I will have individually tailored
to your needs and aims.

Weight management
People eat for many reasons other
than hunger. Messages 'fed' to
us (usually unintentionally) when
we were younger can be stored by
the immature brain, and can often
resurface later in life without
us consciously realising that they
are there. Common trigger feelings/reasons
include: guilt ("Think of all the
starving children in Africa"),
comfort ("Have a piece of chocolate
to make you feel better"), boredom,
and love or acceptance ("If you're
a good boy/girl you can have some
sweeties"). We are led to believe
from a young age that food has
the ability to satisfy us emotionally
as well as physically, but by re-evaluating
these unconscious beliefs from
an adult perspective, it is possible
to change the way you think & feel
(and therefore the way you behave)
with regards to food.
This approach, combined with the
right balance of a healthy diet
and exercise, can be very successful
in helping you to lose weight and
keep it off permanently.

Eating disorders
Hypnotherapy can be successful
at helping people who are experiencing
an eating
disorder such as anorexia
nervosa, bulimia
nervosa or binge
eating disorder. The root of these
disorders often lies in an extremely
low level of self-esteem and a
feeling of lack of control in life,
amongst various other social and
personal factors.
Conventional medical treatment
for eating disorders is usually
solely centred on changing the
person's behaviour with regards
to food, without trying to understand
what's going on in their head.
My approach differs in that first
I want to understand the reasons
behind why you are 'doing' this
behaviour, and then I work together
with you to help build your feelings
of self confidence and self worth,
until you feel ready to start making
changes of your choice at a level
and rate that you feel comfortable
with.

There is much scientific evidence
that our thoughts influence our
physical responses, and that sometimes
we are able to deliberately alter
our physical responses with our
thoughts. I believe that this mind/body
connection provides the possibility
for directing our own healing,
and that the thoughts we have and
beliefs we hold are a major factor
in the manifestation of a wide
range of health issues. I believe
that by helping you change those
thoughts and beliefs, we can work
together to have an effect on whatever
health issue you are experiencing.
Hypnotherapy is particularly effective

pain and discomfort,
and helping to relieve the symptoms
of many health conditions, such
as: morning sickness, arthritis,
migraine, skin complaints eg: acne/warts,

Overcoming traumas
If you have been a witness to
or the subject of a traumatic event,
you may experience flashbacks or
nightmares, have difficulty sleeping
or coping with everyday life, and
suffer from feelings of guilt,
depression or panic. Hypnotherapy
can help you with all of these,
including the longer term effects
of Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Traumatic incidents can overwhelm
the brain's ability to properly
process the information it received
during the event, and the symptoms
you might then suffer from can
be due to the brain continually
trying to make sense of what happened.
Hypnotherapy can help you to process
the memories of traumatic events
safely, allowing the brain to stop
continually re-evaluating them,
and thereby freeing you from the
effects of the trauma.

Confident Childbirth and
pregnancy
Using hypnosis before, during
and after the birth
of a baby can
be extremely beneficial for both
mother and child. Studies have
shown that women using hypnosis
for childbirth require less medication,
have fewer complications and are
more likely to deliver healthier
babies.
Prior to the birth, hypnosis can
help you begin the bonding process
with your baby, and can help take
away some of the anxieties, worries
and fears you may have about labour
and the birth itself. Women who
use hypnosis for childbirth are
usually calmer and more relaxed
during the event, which can result
in an easier and more comfortable
birth, with less mental and physical
tiredness after your baby is born.
Babies born to mothers who use
hypnosis tend to cry less and eat
and sleep better.
Post-natal depression can affect
up to 1 in 7 mothers after they
give birth, and it can range from
mild 'baby blues' to more severe
levels of depression. Hypnotherapy
can also be very successful in
helping you to overcome these feelings
and be able to enjoy your new baby.

Overcome anxiety/panic
As with phobias; fear, panic and
anxiety are the body's natural
reaction to a perceived threat
or danger. Adrenaline floods your
system and primes the body to react
with the 'fight or flight' response.
However, problems occur when someone
becomes oversensitive to normal
everyday occurrences. Panic and
anxiety attacks can be extremely
distressing for the sufferer, and
can have a very negative and debilitating
effect on their quality of life,
but there are ways in which I can
help you to overcome them.
You may know what triggers the
attacks you are experiencing (such
as with a phobia), or you may not
be aware of what causes them. Hypnotherapy
can help you to identify the trigger/s
and can help you re-educate your
unconscious mind to become less
sensitive to it/them.
