Can anyone be hypnotised?
Yes, but only if they want to be. All hypnosis is, in fact, self-hypnosis. People drift in and out of trance naturally every day, though they may not be aware of it. Have you ever driven home from the supermarket and not had the slightest recollection of the journey? Have you ever sat daydreaming about next year’s holiday? Have you ever been so absorbed in a good book that the hours seem to fly by? All of these are examples of trance, and we are all capable of entering into it spontaneously or deliberately.
Will you make me dance like a chicken?
No! Whilst you are in trance, a Hypnotherapist cannot make you do anything that you don’t want to do, or that will compromise your sense of right or wrong. You are completely in control at all times. |

What if I don’t wake up?
Trance is a naturally occurring phenomenon that we move in and out of every day. If you were left in an induced trance, you would either fall asleep and wake up naturally, or get bored and leave!
Will I remember anything from the session?
Generally people are able to remember most, if not all, of what was said in a session, and are usually aware of what is going on around them whilst in trance. There may be some occasions where you find yourself unable to remember exactly what was said, but generally, if you want to remember what happened, then you will.
Will sessions be confidential?
All personal information remains completely confidential at all times both during treatment and after sessions have come to an end. It is vitally important that you are able to put your trust in our relationship and that you feel you are able to talk openly and honestly about your thoughts, feelings and memories.
Anonymous case histories may occasionally be discussed with a qualified supervisor in accordance with the NCH’s policy of ongoing training and quality control, but no names or other identifying information are used at any time.
How long do sessions last?
A typical session will last between 45 minutes and an hour, but if it takes slightly longer then there is no extra charge – I aim to provide you with the best service possible to resolve your issue and won’t stop you halfway through a sentence!
How many sessions will I need?
Open Mind Hypnotherapy follows the principle of Brief Therapy – that is, I will try to help you resolve the issue that is troubling you in the shortest time possible, whilst still adhering to the exceptionally high standards of the NCH and myself. This is to help keep costs down for you as the client, and significantly increases the chance that you can sustain any changes you make by yourself, without becoming dependent on ongoing/long term treatment. I do not ask you to sign up for a certain number of sessions from the beginning – we simply book them week by week until you feel you have resolved the issue.
What are your practice hours?
Appointment times are as follows:
Mondays and Wednesdays: 9.30am, 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm.
Fridays: 9.30am and 11am.
I am also available by telephone during these hours. If I am with a
client, or if it is out of practice hours you will reach an
answerphone, in which case please leave me a message with your contact
details and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
How much does a session cost?
Each session costs £60.
What if I decide that Hypnotherapy isn’t for me?
If after your first appointment (where we discuss your issue and I explain how I think we can work together to resolve it), you decide that Hypnotherapy isn’t the direction that you’d like to take, then you do not have to pay me for that session. If you decide that you want to make another appointment to begin treatment, then you pay me for the consultation session and every session you have thereafter.
